We are committed to your rights to privacy. We promise to share transparently all aspects of how our data collection policies work in regards to privacy, terms, and personal data, and we are in full support of efforts to ensure your protection online.
The following is information to help answer any questions you may have about your experience with the NDCC. We’re grateful for your interest and proud to have you as a part of our community!
The EU’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) took effect in 2018, and we support the spirit of those regulations to help ensure a safer Internet for everyone. We aspire to embrace privacy by design and, whenever possible, to not collect and store personally-identifiable information.
Because membership is assigned based on age categories, we require birthdates and proof of age as part of the membership process. Your address is used to determine your residency in Canada. We also request a phone number so that we may contact you in case of an emergency. This information is collected into a database and maintained for an indefinite period of time. If your membership expires, or you cancel your membership, we may need to retain some of this information for reporting purposes.
We do not keep any credit card information on our website in any form whatsoever.
We may collect both personally identifiable information (“PII”) as well as non-personally identifiable information (“Non-PII”) when you visit or use the Site.
Personally Identifiable Information
PII is information that would allow a third party to identify or locate a particular person. PII includes, without limitation, your name, email address, mailing address, postal code, telephone number and other information that may be requested on forms hosted on this website. We only collects PII if that information is voluntarily provided by you. This may happen in several ways:
In order to issue an NDCC membership, you will be asked to provide certain PII. We need to determine the correct age category, as well as maintain contact information.
We use third parties to provide credit card and other payment processing services through the Site. When you make or receive any payment on or through the Site, you will be required to provide our authorized third party agents with related payment information. Our third party agents may retain the details of financial transactions or payments you make on or through the Site. While the NDCC does not retain any credit card information, the information may be retained by the third-party vendors we use to process credit card transactions.
Non-Personally Identifiable Information
Non-PII is information that does not allow a third party to identify or locate a particular person. You can visit the Site to read information about the Site and the products and services offered without revealing any PII. However, during your visit to the Site, we may collect anonymous Non-PII such as the activity of your browser when you are viewing the Site; your site path during your visit to the Site; demographic data; the amount of time you spend on the Site and general information regarding your Internet service provider and host. We may also collect and log anonymous “traffic data” information that does not personally identify you, but that may be helpful to us for marketing purposes or for improving the services that we offer to our users, such as, without limitation, the pages you visit, the length of your visit, your referring/exit pages and your clickstream activity and the actions you take while using or visiting the Site.
We may use “cookies” to enhance your use of the Site and to monitor your activity during your visit(s) to the Site. Cookies are text files placed in your computer’s browser to identify your Internet browser and to store your preferences. You can remove or block cookies by programming your Internet browser, but in some cases that may impact your ability to access certain portions of the Site.
We may also use “web beacons”, such as clear.gifs or similar technologies, to track the activity and flow of your visit(s) to the Site. These are small pieces of code placed on a web page to monitor the behavior of and to collect anonymous data about the visitors to that page. This allows us to track whether advertising that we pay for is actually working to lead people to the website. Without it we would never know what advertising may be effective. These technologies are always used anonymously and we do not link them to any identifiable personal information.
